Gallery label | This service is described in the Museum's printed registers of 1869 as having been 'bought as an example of cheapness of manufacture'. The cheapness was relative. The decoration is hand-done and this glass cost 7/-. The service was included in the international exhibition, Paris, 1867, where Lobmeyr won a silver medal. Both the shape and decoration are very closely drawn from Bohemian glass of the early 18th century. |
