Labels and date

This service is described in the Museum's printed registers of 1869 as having been 'bought as an example of cheapness of manufacture'. The cheapness was relative. The decoration is hand-done and this glass cost 7/-. The service was included in the international exhibition, Paris, 1867, where Lobmeyr won a silver medal. Both the shape and decoration are very closely drawn from Bohemian glass of the early 18th century. []
