Plate, painted in dark blue, yellow, copper green, dark red, opaque white. In the middle, within a border of sprigs, a hound sleeping in a landscape with the words SVM FVI ERO inscribed on a scroll above him. On the rim, two sheets of music alternating with two wreaths enclosing shields, amongst a symmetrical design of winged masks, dolphins, cherubs, open books and scrollwork. The shields are charged - one, with the arms of Martellini, of Florence - Gules a falcon proper perched on a mount of six summits or debruised by a bend (azure), the other, Or a lion rampant azure debruised by three bars gules. On the back, four sketchy floral sprays alternating with knots and the 'fire-wheel' of the Casa Pirota through which, before the firing of the enamel, a B has been scratched to the underlying body.
