Pear-shaped body with double sides, the outer being moulded in relief with two rococo-scrolled escutcheons and pierced between them with an openwork trellis-pattern, at the intersections of which are rosettes in relief. The domed cover and high foot are pierced with similar ornament.

Vase amd cover of earthenware covered with a tin glaze. German, Stockelsdorf, about 1775.
Physical description
Pear-shaped body with double sides, the outer being moulded in relief with two rococo-scrolled escutcheons and pierced between them with an openwork trellis-pattern, at the intersections of which are rosettes in relief. The domed cover and high foot are pierced with similar ornament.

Originally thought to have been made in Munden, near Hannover.
From Mr. Allen's Loan Collection, no.764.
Historical context
Note in Register: A vase with identical moulding, but with a flower finial, is in the Kunst[?] in Copenhagen (see photos in Dept.). It is painted in enamels and has the Stockelsdorf factory mark.
