Object history | Given by Louis C.G. Clarke. At time of acquisition, this jug was believed to be Transylvanian, 18th or 19th century. it was subsequently attributed to Moravia and 18th century. (9 Nov.1927) Madame Krohova of the Prague Folk Museum said that it was from the village of Sobotiste, district Nitra, in Slovakia. (19 January 1931) Prof. K. Csanyi, Budapest Museum, said it was Hungarian and comes from near Pressburg (=Bratislava). |
