ca. 1750-60 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Lead-glazed earthenware with decoration in relief impressed and incised through a white slip and the glaze stained with blue and manganese-purple. The jug has a globular body, low slightly tapering neck with pinched-out top and plain loop handles. Round the neck are rosettes in relief, and wheel motives impressed. The body is decorated with motives resembling sunflowers and with leaves incised through a white slip, the petals of the flower motives being accentuated by dots of manganese-purple. The ground and the centres of the flower motives are stained blue, which shows a tendency to run. Round the handle is the attachment of a now missing pewter cover.
