Production | J Mallet, 04/99 Possibly Francesco Urbini, Gubbio. St John the Baptist head on a dish. Nice letters on scroll but bad painting. Mark in gold lustre under the foot 1535 N. 3 spur marks on the back. The attribution was confirmed in 2009. Mallet suggests to compare the dish with the famous Phallic-head plate, dated 1536, bearing Francesco's mark, purchased in 2003 by the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (WA2003-136) |
