DISH with a hound holding a heart in its mouth

This dish would have been a love token, and its elaborate decoration is rich in meaning. The faithful dog begs for the reward of his beloved's heart. An inscription on the rim, partly using symbols for missing words, proclaims 'I am burning for you. Are we going to make a business? Come on!'
