Plateau, painted tin-glazed and lustre decoration depicting Cupid riding a unicorn (symbol of virginity). Italy (Gubbio), about 1510.
Physical Description
Row of short internal flutings round the hollow and without foot rim. Painted in blue, copper green and lustre colours. In the middle, in a medallion surrounded by a wreath of pinks, Cupid astride a unicorn on a rock. On the rim, scale-pattern within a wreath of berries.
