Formerly Castellani Collection.
Production
The subject is copied from an altarpiece in Faenza Cathedral painted in 1526 by Innocenza Da lmola. Horizontal drawing for the altarpiece is in the British Museum, published by Philip Pouncy in the Burlington Magazine, LXXXVII (July, 1945), p172.

Similar to Forli piece. Possibly after Raffaello. Heavy contour drawing. In Baldassarre Manara book (p.220-1, pl.1a &1b). Strong iconographic aspect reminiscent of Faenza. Linked to the pala Bonaccorsi in Faenza cathedral by Innocenzo Da lmola.
