Object history
Formerly Henry Wallis Collection. A similar drug-jar with the same apothecary's symbol is in the Louvre (Gonzalez Marti, 1944, fig.587).

Purchase price note: Bought for £187 10s.
Production
Ray dates to 1435-1475 based on arms found on pieces with similar ivy leaf motif. Spallanzani also dates this vessel to the mid 15th century. Pair to no.182 (53-1907).
