Physical description

Tin glazed earthenware Italian maiolica dish on high foot painted in vivid colour. An allegorical subject: A bearded man in a turban preceded by a boy carrying a dish heaped with gold coins is approaching a group of four women who stand beside a table in a landscape. Above, on a scroll are the words 'OMNIA P PECVNIAM FACTA SVNT'. On the back, yellow circles and, in black, the inscription and signature 'MDXXXVIIII. Cossi ua'l modo, e l'esperienza e fatta X' (This is the way of the world, thus the experiment is made).
