The leaf pattern design called ivy-leaf derives from Valencian lustred pottery, imported in large quantities into Italy, especially into Tuscany in the 15th century.
Tuscan potters were not able to produce lustre at this stage and used colours to imitate the metallic pigment.

Physical description
Storage jar with cylindrical neck, flange at the rim. Painted in blue and manganese purple. Round the body panels with three horizontally placed leaves. On the shoulder a wavy stem with foliated scrolls, on the neck a band of trellis-pattern
