Object history
This object was acquired in 1870 as 17th-century Dutch. This type of pottery with its destinctive green glaze and carved decoration is typical for the northern province of Friesland, where it was made since the 18th century.
Historical context
It is doubtful that this object could have served as a functional chafing dish and it was more likely intended for decorative use.
