The plate belongs to an unidentified service painted by Xanto between 1531 and 1532; the service must have been very extensive, comprising plates and vessels of different shapes and sizes, eight plates are known to us; all showing mythological subjects.
Xanto was a very prolific painter and more than 15 different armorial services painted by him and his collaborators, survive today.
