  • DISH with a lion holding a cross-inscribed flag 1450-70 This dish is typical of the 'green' style created in the Florentine countryside in the early decades of the 15th century. The lion probably represents the Lion of Florence (the marzocco), one of the city's symbols, as he holds the cross-inscribed flag of the first Republic in his right paw.
