Object history
Bought from the Haliburton Collection.
At the time of acquisition, this candlestick was thought to be English. In 1956 it was reattributed to Delft. There has also been speculation that it may have been made in Hannong's factory in Strasbourg.
Historical context
There is a similar candlestick in form, not decoration, which is attributed to Tata in the Tatabanya region of Hungary (see Refs.).
