This (and V&A Mus. no. 50-1882) are a pair of Istrian stone brackets would have originally supported the overhanging hood of a chimney-piece. They date from the mid fifteenth century and are carved with amorini and foliage, and terminate with lion heads.

Bracket. One of a pair. Istrian stone, curved form, carved with amorini and foliage, and terminating in lion heads. They formerly supported the elliptical overhanging hood of a chimney-piece.
