This bronze medal was struck to commemorate the International Exhibition held in Sydney in 1880. On the obverse side 'Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, K.G., President of Royal Commission' is shown in profile. On the reverse side there is a wreath and the legend, 'Australian International Exhibitions. Sydney, 1879- 1880. Melbourne, 1880- 1881. The medal was awarded by the organisers to 'The South Kensington Museum for services'.
