  • CUP with a naked woman 1550-1600 Follower of Bernard Palissy (1510-90) It is often difficult to distinguish between Palissy's own work and that of his immediate followers. Other potters imitated his products for several decades after his death, and again during the 19th century. This cup in the style of Palissy appealed to the 16th-century sense of humour. As the contents recede, the nakedness of the female figure is gradually exposed. France Lead-glazed earthenware, moulded Museum no. C.2310-1910 Salting Bequest(2008)
