Sir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes. Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.

Brief description
Wine cooler stand, silver-gilt. Benjamin Smith II and James Smith III, 1811.
Physical description
A circular stand for a wine cooler on four paw-and-wing feet, chased around the border with a band of leaves and berries on matted ground. Around the sunken centre are masks of Silenus and a band of grapevines and fruit; a beaded band is applied within. The stand is engraved with a crest.
