Sir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes. Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.
Physical description
Silver-gilt candlestick (one of a set of four) on a shaped square base, the tapering stem of octagonal section chased with imbricated quatrefoils, husks and beads, a plain wax pan engraved with a crest is fitted into the nozzle.
