Sir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes. Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.

Physical description

Two handled vase of shallow 'Kantharos' form, chased with foliage below and masks, lion pelts, spears and clubs above, standing on a square plinth resting on four diminutive fluted feet and engraved with a coat of arms twice and Latin inscription.
