The crisply tailored look of this double breasted, mini-length coat of 1967 is typical of Courreges’ structured, linear style, and of his concentration on fine finish and detail. Attention is deliberately drawn to the visible construction lines of the garment. The work on the false pocket flap, the inset side panel and the button illustrates the confident white machine topstitching and welt seam which emphasise the cut and shaping of the garment. The pliable weightiness of the woven gabardine fabric is perfectly matched to the almost architectural qualities of Courreges’ styling.

Physical description

White wool gaberdine coat with collar, sleeves and side panels in brown and white stripes. Double-breasted and with six brown plastic buttons, small turnover collar and bracelet-length sleeves with small cuffs. There are two decorative pocket flaps at each hip and a small brown and white gaberdine belt with two brown buttons at the centre back waist. Lined with white silk. The crisply tailored look of this mid-length coat is typical Courreges' structured, linear style, and of his concentration on fine finish and detail.
