This bright green and black evening mini-dress by Christian Lacroix dress has a strategically placed half-bow that emphasises the wearer’s movement in an arresting and humorous way.

Lacroix is famed for his eclecticism and this dress from one of his earliest collections marries the mini-dress with a bustle-like flounce borrowed from 19th-century costume. He said in Vogue in March 1988 ‘every one of my dresses possesses a detail that can be connected with something historic, something from a past culture. We don’t invent anything’.
