Physical description | Rectilinear piece of alabaster, each end with an ogee arch pierced by a quatrefoil between two pointed arches. The top of the central section is set with a round mosaic of the Virgin, three-quarter length, wearing a red gown and blue cloak, and the Christ child, both wearing crowns and haloes. Christ is holding up his hand in blessing. He stands on a low wall upon which are Gothic letters or micromosaic tesserae: GRETIUORUM PATRONA (Protectress of the Flocks). |
