Dress

1967 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This summer mini-dress was designed by French fashion designer André Courrèges. Machine embroidered daisies are repeated in a neat, precise pattern over the whole of the dress. The bold, padded flowers feature scalloped petals worked in satin with pink organza overlays. The flower centres are glimmering discs of iridescent perspex. This A-line mini-dress is representative of Courrèges' youthful styles. In this example, the designer combined nylon, plastic, and innovative Swiss embroidery to produce a celebration of all that was considered modern in 1967.
