Brief description
A high, open gig to hold two people, with a double seat,with padded and buttoned upholstery fixed to a pair of poles with two wheels. The outer surface of the curvaceous body is painted with flowers and birds. The red buttoned upholstery is entirely of 19th-century date and is now in very poor condition. The back of the footwell is covered with oil-cloth in a trellis-patterned design.

Wood, carved, painted with flowers and birds. The back is pierced and buttoned, giving the appearance of very deep buttoning. The back of the well is covered with oil-cloth in a trellis-patterned design.

Historical context
These vehicles are very rare in Britain but not uncommon in Holland. They are most unusual in that the shafts are detachable and a pole may be fitted to enable two horses to be driven abreast.
