This round silver medal depicts Queen Victoria in profile. On the reverse Lord Gough is shown receinging the arms of the Sikhs with the word 'To the army of the Punjab. MDCCCXLIX.'

Gough was a British field marshal who defeated the Sikh forces in the battle of Gujarat in the Punjab.
