This round bronze medal depicts Arthur Duke of Wellington in profile. On the reverse within a wreath is the inscription 'Born, May 1 1769, Entered the army, 1787. Field Marshal, 1813. Duke of Wellington, 1814. Prime Minister, 1828.' Wellington, one of the most famous figures in British History, enjoyed a distinguished military and political career.
