This round bronze medal depicts 'Field Marsahl Arthur Duke of Wellington' in profile. on the reverse side within a wreath is the inscription 'In arms the deliverer of Europe; in council the pacificator of his country.' Arthur Wellesley the first Duke of Wellington, one of the most famous figures in British History, enjoyed a distinguished military and political career. As Commander of the British forces responsible for defeating Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, he became an object of hero-worship and gratitude across Europe. He also served as British Prime Minister from 1828 to 1830.
