This bronze medal bears an image of Charles, Marquis Cornwallis in profile. The reverse side represents Lord Cornwallis receiving the sons of Tippoo Sahib as hostages. It was struck to honor Cornwallis as a result of his campaign against the Sultan of Mysore, Tippoo Sahib in 1792. The victory gave the British a larger holding in India.
