Admiral Sir J.T Duckworth was a British naval officer who served during the American War of Independence, the French Revoluntionary and Napoleonic Wars. He served with most of the great names of the Royal navy during the later eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and fought in the last great fleet action of the Napoleonic Wars. This medal was struck 'by his followers' in dedication of the 'memory of their illustrious Commander.'
