Tent band, part, single soumak (check type), with details brocaded and some countered soumak.

WARP: white cotton; Z2S; 60 threads per inch (244 per dm counted as 122 per 5 cms).

WEFT: Foundation: white cotton; Z2S; 24 threads per inch (96 per dm at 48 per 5 cms.). Pattern: wool; 11 colours: dark red, red, light red, yellow, green/blue, dark blue, blue, purple, dark brown, brown, cream. Irregular movement.

SIDE FINISH: returned wefts.

END FINISH: cut

DESIGN: the piece is decorated in bands except for two, full width peacocks, one dark red, the other green/blue. There are five bands filled with geometric designs on a dark blue ground entirely worked in soumak; six bands (worn) are of multi-coloured floral sprigs; four bands are of small geometric designs (worn) and one is of small birds.
