Place of origin

Fragment of painted, dyed and block-printed cotton chintz. The design consists of a spray of blue convolvulus-like flowers with floral sprays and leaves, all rising from a spathe-like sheath. The colours are violet, red, green and yellow. There is a selvedge at the right edge and some traces of stitching.

The design of fanciful flowers would have come from a floorspread, curtain or perhaps a garment.
