Historical context
Adapted from a detail in the bottom right-hand corner of W. Hamilton's design of the same title for a painted panel in the Saloon at Kedleston Hall. See L. Harris, Robert Adam and Kedleston, 1987, p.62 for information and for illustration of original design. SD.1342 is not a straight copy, but it clearly derives from Hamilton's design. See also SD.524.
