Object history | It has been commented that Saxon portraits on Neuber boxes have often been changed in the nineteenth century to replace lesser known and less glamorous figures with more prominent and more beautiful people of greater international renown. In these circumstances it seems probable that the portrait of Marie Antoinette is a later addition to this box. |
