Nora Fok's intricate three dimensional jewels show her mastery of knitting and weaving in nylon filament, her vivid appreciation of colour and her ability to capture the fragility and transient beauty of nature. She has written that she has 'always had an affinity with nylon because of its unique qualities, light in weight, translucent, warm to the touch. It can be dyed and pigmented and is strong, becoming suitable to wear when transformed into jewellery'. This ring, part of her 'Nylon Botanicus' series was inspired by the species of cornflower 'Centaurea cyanus' which flower in her garden during the summer.

Physical description

The ring comprises a large single flower of purple, pink, yellow and green knitted nylon with long purple stamens projecting from the centre, attached to a double band made of thicker nylon filament.
