The Moon Girl Look
André Courrèges’ ‘Space Age’ collection with its futuristic look was highly influential in the mid 1960s. His flat-heeled, shiny white boots with square toes became an essential for young women emulating the ‘Moon Girl’ image. This new version of femininity was inspired by youth, sportswear and space travel. Many other designers copied the style, and cheaper examples were quickly available on the high street.
