According to Rodney Searight: - `Bt Bonhams, Feb.1971 £20 '. Probably exhibited at The Pall Mall Gallery, `Sinai, Egypt, The Alps', 1868 (23) and Walton's Gallery, Collection of Oil & Water-Colour Paintings, c.1870 (75), titled Abyssinian Christian on Pilgrimage.
Historical context
`El-tin' (fig, in Arabic) may refer to the Virgin's Tree at al-Matariyyah (Mataria), a sycamore fig, where the Holy Family is supposed to have rested. The Church of the Holy Family is nearby.
