Historical context
The Lohanis traded between India and Afghanistan. Vigne travelled part of the way between Multan and Kabul with one of their caravans: see Vigne, A Personal Narrative of a Visit to Ghuzni, Kabul, And Afghanistan ..., 1840, pp.23-120.
