The American artist Robert Kulicke (1924-2007) studied at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, and in Paris at the studio of Fernand Léger. His best-known paintings remain his studies of single pieces of fruit - images closely echoed in the gold and cloisonné enamel of this pendant with its single pear. He was also a highly respected designer of picture frames.
