Covered black sparterie shape hat of rust velvet. It has a small, high crown with flat top and a brim which is wider at the front. The velvet is shirred and ruched on the under brim. The back of the hat is trimmed with a large wired bow of twisted rust red velvet. It has a black silk interlining and black petersham ribbon headband to which is sewn the woven label.

Physical description
Covered black sparterie shape hat of rust velvet. It has a small, high crown with flat top and a brim which is wider at the front. The velvet is shirred and ruched on the under brim. The back of the hat is trimmed with a large wired bow of twisted rust red velvet. It has a black silk interlining and black petersham ribbon headband to which is sewn the woven label.
