Historical context
Reproduced in W. Tyndale, An Artist in Egypt, 1912, facing p.184, titled The Birth Colonnade In The Temple Of Hatshepsu. Tyndale visited Egypt several times 1905-1911, working for E. Naville, until 1908, in the Temple of Hatshepsut at Luxor, copying reliefs in the Second Colonnade. He held exhibitions of his Egyptian drawings at the Leicester Galleries, in 1907 and 1912, and published Below the Cataracts, 1907, and An Artist in
Egypt, 1912. See Mathaf Gallery, 1984 and cf. no.30 (illustrated).
