Purple and pink ombréd silk chiffon covered hat with fall of chiffon at back, shallow crown and small brim. Worn tilted forward. Swathed around the side band and part of the brim is a length of silk crepe shaded from mauve to deep reddish purple. Its two ends stream over the black brim (secured to the brim edge in soft pleats by stitching). Three velvet bows (pale pink, deep pink and reddish purple) are secured to the side band above the steamers. It has an inner head ribbon of black petersham and the hat is secured on the head by a tubular black elastic strap.
