ca. 1935 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
This fan made of swansdown was held by a bridesmaid at a wedding, instead of flowers. Both the bride and the groom were Scots living in China and the wedding took place in Chongqing, western China, in 1935. The swansdown still shows a faint tinge of pale green, the colour with which the swansdown was originally tinted, to match the dress and lace hat worn by the bridesmaid.
