This is a bronze medal made by Ottone Hamerani in Rome in about 1719. The obverse of this medal represents Clementine, Princess Sobieski, wife of the Old Pretender James Stuart. The reverse shows Clementine Sobieski in a chariot, the city of Rome and a departing ship in the background.
The Hamerani's were an important family of coin engravers and medallists of Bavarian origin. The medals are notable especially for their historical value documenting Rome and its monuments at that time.
