Physical description | Domed pith helmet made with the pith of the Indian spongewood (sola) plant, with layers of fabric arranged in a chevron formation to front, edged all around with a band of grey cotton. The pith fabric looks to have been painted white. The hat featured a brown leather headband and an adjustable cotton sweatband as well as cork and brass elements to interior and a G. Vigo / Malta label. |
