Brief description
'Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll, 1867 AA.CARL.AL.1867
Gallery label
In chapter two, Alice stretches ‘like a telescope’ after eating a cake. This illustration shows her in the process of growing as her head and neck lengthen away from her feet. In the book, the image is positioned in close relation to the text, allowing both to be read at the same time. At the bottom of the page are the words, ‘Oh, my poor little feet’.
