Posset pot of red earthenware, lead-glazed with marbled, trailed and stamped slip decoration. Round the top are the initials 'R.F., I.G., M.G., and R.D.' Globular, with wide cylindrical mouth and two scrolled loop handles. The body is decorated with rosettes connected by a wavy stem.

Physical description
Posset pot of red earthenware, lead-glazed with marbled, trailed and stamped slip decoration. Round the top are the initials 'R.F., I.G., M.G., and R.D.' Globular, with wide cylindrical mouth and two scrolled loop handles. The body is decorated with rosettes connected by a wavy stem.

A very similar jug is in the Potteries Museum and it bears the letters 'RF' 'IS' '1685'. It is possible that the initials 'RF' are for the potter.
