Physical description

Colour lithograph poster campaigning against the Munich or Bavarian Räterepublik, proclaimed on 7 April 1919 and lasting approximately four-weeks. It was an attempt to establish a Free State of Bavaria as a Socialist Soviet republic. A muscular white man wearing a waistcoat with his shirt sleeves rolled up, stands by a German border post. His oversized hands threaten a thinner Asian figure who is depicted as a racist caricature and recoils from the German man in fear.
